Full-time | Exempt | Monday–Friday (some evenings/weekends)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Director of Marketing and Communications to lead our marketing strategy, brand management, and public relations efforts. This role is ideal for a creative leader with a passion for the arts and a proven track record of developing successful campaigns that drive engagement and attendance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute marketing, communication, and advertising strategies across print, digital, and social platforms ensuring alignment with organizational goals
  • Oversee brand identity, graphic standards, and creative design for all materials
  • Manage media relations, write press releases, and serve as spokesperson for the Institute
  • Create compelling content and oversee social media strategies to expand reach and visibility
  • Collaborate with leadership and program staff to promote exhibitions, performances, and educational programs
  • Plan and monitor the marketing budget
  • Represent Oglebay Institute at community events, festivals, and high-profile functions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in marketing within the arts, culture, or education sectors preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong skills in strategic planning, content creation, and digital marketing (SEO, social media, email campaigns)
  • Proven ability to lead teams, analyze data, and adapt strategies to emerging trends
  • Excellent communication, writing, and storytelling abilities
  • Passion for the arts and commitment to cultural enrichment

Physical & Work Environment

  • Light physical activity; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
  • Office-based with occasional travel to events and external venues
  • Interacts with artists, patrons, and community partners
